After Clearance
|
Once your land has been cleared, you'll be able to clearly see the natural contours of the land.
Then, future plans and ideas are much easier to create as opposed to looking at a daunting
overgrown wilderness.
You may also be surprised at the discovery of the native trees, flora and fauna.
Cleared land not only improves the visual amenity and ambience of your property, it also
enhances and protects the naturally occurring ecosystems and environment.
Land Clearance Considerations
Where possible we walk around the site to be cleared with the owners, carefully checking what
trees, shrubs and flowers can be kept to retain the natural character and ambience of the area to
facilitate the following important considerations:
Maintaining
privacy, preserving natural windbreaks, maximising and creating views.
Ensuring unwanted
vegetation or scrub close to property and outbuildings is regularly cleared and maintained to help
prevent the spread of Forest Fires. We strongly recommend that a minimum clearance radius of 50
metres from all property is adhered too.
Checking the
safety of mature trees especially when in close proximity to property, electricity and telephone
wires, and other public places.
We undertake land clearance work throughout the year, although if you want the cut vegetation burned, this is best done during the autumn and spring.
Helping the Natural Environment
The maintaining
and creation of local habitats and ecosystems. This can easily be achieved by working with nature, for example, restoring and maintaining existing trees, shrubs and allowing the indigenous wild plants to flower and re-seed.
On larger sites,
well away from property etc ( due to fire risks and public safety etc ) the creation of habitat
piles to provide natural shelter for a variety of species, and to allow all the nutrients locked up
in the habitat pile the chance to naturally decompose and return to the soil, thus completing the
natural cycle as nature intended.
Where safe and
appropriate, to allow standing dead trees to remain to act as a habitat for woodpeckers to nest and
all the natural occurring insects that are found living under the bark and cavities of dead
trees.
In certain
situations creating dead trees by ring barking to provide the above habitats. It is a standard
Forestry Commission recommendation to have 10% standing dead timber to encourage new habitats.
We strive to work to the highest possible standard to, care for the environment, to keep future
maintenance costs to a minimum and help our friends and clients enjoy their land and gardens to the
fullest.
